| Affiliates
are corporations, consulting firms or individuals who provide
financial support for the activities of the John A. Blume Earthquake
Engineering Center. Through their sustaining financial support,
the Affiliates demonstrate their interest in maintaining first
class education and research in earthquake engineering at Stanford
University.Affiliate fees are used to purchase and maintain
educational and research equipment; to publish research reports;
to organize and hold seminars, workshops, and conferences; and
to provide financial assistance for students involved in earthquake
engineering research.Affiliates are invited to visit the Blume
Center and participate in various activities. They have facilitated
access to the Blume Center's faculty and staff and are encouraged
to discuss with them critical issues of mutual concern. Affiliates
provide a very valuable perspective to the research and development
conducted at the Blume Center, and their participation in these
activities is essential to the program's goals. Affiliates also
receive copies of publications and other material that is available
from the Blume Center.Corporations, consulting firms, and individual
professionals can become members of the Blume Center Professional
Affiliates Program by contributing financially. The amount depends
on the interest of the organization. The minimum annual contribution
for companies is $2,500. Corporate gifts or fees range from
$2,500 to $10,000 depending on the corporation. In addition,
support is sometimes provided for specific research projects;
this may be in the form of a research grant, a contract, or
unrestricted gift funds.Individuals or organizations interested
in joining the Blume Center Affiliates Program are asked to
