Miranda named as one of ENR's Top 25 Newsmakers

November 3, 2015

The Engineering News-Record has named Professor Eduardo Miranda as one of the Top 25 Newsmakers for 2014.  Professor Miranda was honored for his work on developing an economical, quake-resilient wood-framed house.

During the study—"
Seismically Isolated Unibody Residential Buildings for Enhanced Life-Cycle Performance"—researchers developed relatively low-cost base isolators. Shake-table tests on a two-story house confirmed predictions of drastically reduced damage.
