2026 NHERI Computational Symposium

Stanford had a strong presence at the two-day 2026 NHERI Computational Symposium, with participation from faculty Greg Deierlein, Jack Baker, Catherine Gorle, and Barb Simpson; Research Engineer Adam Zsarnoczay; students Gabriela Calana, Mia Lochhead, Carmen Andrade, Gustavo Araujo, Juan Miguel Valois, Max Beeman, Tinger Lin, Christianos Burlotos, and Morgan McBain; Postdoctoral Scholars Simona Meiler and Nikola Blagojevic; and several Stanford alumni.

Across the program, 12 Stanford students and postdoctoral scholars presented new research using computational modeling and simulation to better understand the impacts of earthquakes, wildfires, and hurricanes.

 Now in its fourth year, the symposium has become a leading forum for the natural hazards research community—bringing together recent advances, broader impacts, and industry applications aimed at understanding risk and improving resilience through computational methods.
